T he second Whitby Village Fair will be held in and around the Whitby Village shopping area, on the grass areas by the Lagoon, on Saturday 4 December 2010, between the hours of 10am – 3pm. Whitby is a large, sunny and relatively new suburb of the city of Porirua, on Wellington's north-west coast.

The Fair will have a variety of stalls, entertainment and activities. Community participation of all kinds is especially encouraged and welcome. Entry is free. If the weather is poor, the event is cancelled, sorry, no postponement date, and no refunds. Call 384-1998 from 7am on the day for cancellation details.

A special feature of this event is that non-local stallholders can only display or sell quality and hand-made local or NZ crafts; no plastic, manufactured, mass-produced or other similar goods. This event focuses on quality stalls.

Performers and groups are especially encouraged to contact us and come along to show the community your wonderful talents!

A feature of this year's event will be the "Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars" primary school kids' talent contest. Schools are paid a performance fee for every entrant; and all the prize money goes to their school as well! Entry forms will be published soon.

Food Stallholders must complete and return, with your stall application and payment, pages two and four of this WCC Food Stall Requirements; then attend a meeting with the event organisers to discuss your compliance. (We are not in the WCC area but these are good requirements.)

Local retailers may choose to take advantage of the numbers attending that day, and have a special or promotion. Locals are entitled to half-price stalls, so do also think about booking the stall space. Porirua News and Whitby Newsbrief may be doing a feature for the event, so you also may want to advertise with them. If you do, please mention the Fair in your ad!

If you belong to a community group, think about having a stall. Information stalls are free, and stalls selling goods are half price to locals. It will be a good chance to recruit new members, show the community what you do, and/or raise funds.

We hope that there will be a good attendance on Fair day. PCC are assisting with some aspects of the event, and we will do our best to ensure local retailers' carparks continue to be available for your customers.

Stallholders, once you have unloaded, please park out on the main road. It is important that the local churches, library, and especially all the shops' carparks, are left available for their customers.
